Summer Activity Camps

Summer Camps 2018

Our Kayaking Summer Camps for children aged 6 - 18 years old will be running around Lough Derg, from spots such as our base at Kilgarvan Quay, Portumna, Killaloe and  Mountshannon.

Each camp lasts 2 weeks in full but can be broken into daily learning to fit any schedule, filled with kayaking, canoeing, archery, fun games, skill development, water safety awareness (RSR1), bushcrafting and basic navigation techniques around our beloved Lough Derg, in a safe and fun learning environment.

Canoeing Ireland Awards will be given to attendees of each full week to bring the next generation of paddlers up to an internationally-recognised high standard.

Week 1 - Introduction to Paddlesport and Level 1 Kayaking Training + Assesment. Introduction to Water Rescue, Navigation and Paddlesport Disciplines

Week 2 - Skill development (Level 2 Kayaking Training) and participation in full River Safety & Rescue (RSR1) Course

Blueway 10k miniature

Discover the Blueway

Discover the Blueway is a fast workout program like "Couch to 5k", but on water. At the end of 9 weeks we will challenge a 10km paddle on the Lough together .

Blueway 10K is tailored for total beginners who have never paddled before but will also be suitable and beneficial to intermediate and even expert paddlers.

This no nonsense workout will allow people to turn up in regular workout clothes, put on a buoyancy aid, grab a boat and paddle, and go for short intensive work out.

Although the programme is written for kayaks, the Blueway 10K can be completed in any paddlesports craft including sit on tops, open canoes and stand up paddle boards.

Blueway 10k was created with the input of three times Olympian Eoin Rheinisch and World Championship Marathon Paddler and PhD in Sports Science Neil Flemming.
